Stressed out?

In my 13 years as a personal trainer, people walk into a session either stressed out or at a bottom in their lives, at a bottom with weight loss or in their personal lives outside of physical fitness.

I have never heard a client say “I feel terrible,” or “I am more stressed out,” after a training session, In fact after getting in a great workout my clients tell me that they feel so much better. Studies have proven over and over, that when we elevate our heart rate and work our muscles we feel better, we are creating brain function and detoxing and so much more.

I know it takes a lot of work to get in the door, get out of that comfort zone, hitting a bottom is vulnerable, that’s why I like to create an atmosphere that says, “come as you are” I will meet you where ever you’re at.

Today’s 10 tips of fitness April 22nd 2013

1.) Do you live in the Bay Area? get out and enjoy this weather! Wow, it is bananas nice!

2.) How many days a week are you training at the moment? If your trying to reach some goals by summer, ah-hem, then you can train 4-5 days a week, just don’t over do it! Get in a circuit training every other day, not more then 45 minutes, you don’t need to be in the gym training for hours. Smarter not harder. Remember next year to get your training in at the begging of the year, not in the middle of the year. It can take 6 months to a year to meet your goals.

3.) How is your food log? That accountability is so great for meeting goals. There are so many apps out there, or just write it down in a note pad.

4.) Don’t forget to warm up before you train, get the nervous system and your muscles warm, simple static stretches then resistance training.

5.) Do your cardio after your workout, save your sugar levels for your cardio.

6.) Find a gym buddy, it will motivate you and you will get better results.

7.) How is your veggie intake? I say every meal, eat your veggies, it’s our liquid drain-o it gives us nutrients, great for our skin.

8.) Plan your workout before you arrive, Monday chest and back, Wednesday arms and shoulders, Friday legs. Time is precious. Make the best of your time.

9.) Are you showing up two or three days a week in your workouts? you should be getting results, 4 days your an animal. Your maintaining when you train 1-2 days a week, we need to use our muscles, muscle burns fat, and resistance training, helps with bone density. Keep your nutrition clean, whole foods, if he shelf life is more then two weeks it’s probably not real food.

Today’s 10 fitness tips. Thursday December, 6th.

1.) slow down when eating, chew your food. ( I wrote this one last night, while eating dinner with a shovel)

2.) how is the lemon water I suggested? Remember, this is a great way to get that PH balance up, we want more alkalizing foods, lemons is high on the list, that’s why I say first thing in the morning.

3.) self care = self love

4.) fitness can take care of the stress around us. We can get our heart rate up anyplace. When your done working out, you will feel better, make the time. this can be 10 minutes, again TIME is something we ALL need more of, we have a baby, we have a bay and work, we have a kid, work, and a relationship, you name it there is not enough time. I will suggest you schedule it like a dentist appointment or a therapy appointment. We can make the time. It can be a 15 minute workout. Lets see if we can do it.

5.) today’s challenge no wheat, or sugar.

6.) today’s snack, almond butter and apples with lemon water.

7.) dinner: cook chicken in coconut oil, sweet potato, kale (cook in a table spoon of bacon fat)

8.) look in the mirror and say “I am great!”

9.) today’s fitness challenge : walk 1 minute, jog 30seconds, sprint 30 seconds, repeat for 15 minutes. This can be done at home (running in place) outside, or on a treadmill. Good luck.

10. NEVER GIVE UP! This is your life, move better and feel great.
