Stressed out?

In my 13 years as a personal trainer, people walk into a session either stressed out or at a bottom in their lives, at a bottom with weight loss or in their personal lives outside of physical fitness.

I have never heard a client say “I feel terrible,” or “I am more stressed out,” after a training session, In fact after getting in a great workout my clients tell me that they feel so much better. Studies have proven over and over, that when we elevate our heart rate and work our muscles we feel better, we are creating brain function and detoxing and so much more.

I know it takes a lot of work to get in the door, get out of that comfort zone, hitting a bottom is vulnerable, that’s why I like to create an atmosphere that says, “come as you are” I will meet you where ever you’re at.

Today’s 10 tips of FREE fitness. Saturday December 15th.

1.) EVERY moment is precious. Enjoy what’s around you. After what happened yesterday in Newton Connecticut, I am just lost for words, as a parent of a child in grade school, yesterday was unreal, and anyone’s worst nightmare. I was working all day and it was hard, it was hard not to run and pick up my child early, ( which is not a good thing for them, to feel my stress) so i did not.
My heart is with all of the families and kids in that school and the teachers, who were there and will now have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

2.) lets be kind to one another.

Today’s FREE 10 tips of fitness. 12-12-12

Today’s 10 FREE tips of fitness. Wednesday 12-12-12

1.) breakfast – 4 whole eggs, 1/4 of an avocado, 2 pieces of bacon, kale and bell pepper.

2.) workout challenge today- interval training. 1 minute walk, 30 second sprint, 1 minute walk, 30 second sprint. If you have not done this before, start off with 8-10’minutes, see how your recovery is, next time add a minute or two, if you feel light headed pause. Stop.

3.) prepare your bacon for breakfast or another dish. Save the bacon fat for flavor, yes it bacon fat, it’s good for you, use just a tablespoon or two when cooking your veggies. Then you have bacon already to sprinkle in eggs or kale.

4.) If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. -Maya Angelou

it’s a magnesium supplement, great for keeping you regular also. I always say there are a billion supplements out there, it’s over whelming. I heard about it from grassfedgirl.com. A source I trust.

8.) I am trying to get you to replace the morning oatmeal with veggies and protein. Oatmeal is a big ball of gluten, causing inflammation in the body and getting your sugars spiked. Try it for 3 weeks. Most people tell me they are eating the oatmeal to start their day with a Bowel movement, fruit and veggies have MORE fiber then oatmeal, food for thought. ( no pun intended)

9.) I hope you have thrown out the canola oil. It’s not real, it’s toxic. I hate to sound so dramatic, but it’s true.

Today 10 tips of fitness Tuesday December 10th 2012

1.) are you stuck? In a rut with your fitness and nutrition? Remember fear is what stops us and courage is what’s keeps us going.

2.) I am going to try coconut milk, the thick and creamy kind in a can for my morning coffee. I will report.

3.) breakfast : 3 whole eggs, one bell pepper, 2 mini paleo pumpkin muffins with butter.

4.) lets not over work, keep your workouts to an hour and 3-4 days a week. Google cortisol. We need to rest our body’s.

5.) today’s fitness challenge : warm up for five minutes, stretch for 5-10 minutes. Standing lat pull downs, cardio for 1 minute ( running in place, medicine ball bounces, you choose) bicep squat curls, cardio one minute, plank one minute, cardio one minute, front lunge 8 each leg, cardio one minute. Drink water, repeat.

6.) “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou

7.) if your having elbow pain, use dumbbells and stop using barbells, then get some acupuncture and body work.

8.) never do chest and shoulders together it’s way to much shoulders, any chest work we do is a lot of shoulders already. Sure you can do one of each move but not a full on workout with chest and shoulders.

9.) yes supplements work, but keep in mind it is a billion dollar industry, try to get your nutrition from food, I used to do whey protein shakes for years, I have not bought the 10 lb bag of whey protein in over a year and I have still got my muscle mass and my digestive system is happy.

10.) stay in the solution, never give up.
